Before starting writing
Due to the fact application essay can have a critical effect upon your progress toward a vocation, you should spend a lot more time, thought, and effort on it than its typically brief length would suggest. The field. Why would you like to be a___ that is__? No, really. Think about why you and you particularly would you like to enter that field. A word about honesty here—you may have a good reason for selecting an application that wouldn’t necessarily sway your reader; for instance, you need to live close to the beach, or perhaps the program is considered the most prestigious and would look better on the resume. You don’t want to be completely straightforward in these full cases and appear superficial, but skirting around them or lying can look even worse. Turn these aspects into positives. For instance, you might want to head to a program in a specific location because it is a spot that you know very well and now have ties to, or because there is a need in your field there. Again, doing research in the program may reveal approaches to legitimate even your most superficial and selfish good reasons for applying.
Yourself. What details or anecdotes would help your reader understand you? Why is you special? Can there be something about your family, your education, your work/life experience, or your values which includes shaped you and brought you to this career field? What motivates or interests you? Are you experiencing skills that are special like leadership, management, research, or communication? Why would the people in the program would you like to choose you over other applicants? Be honest with yourself and write down your thinking. That you plan to read on your own (and not argue about immediately) if you are having trouble, ask a friend or relative to make a list of your strengths or unique qualities. Question them to provide you with examples to back their impressions up (For instance, if they do say you may be “caring,” ask them to spell it out an incident they remember by which they perceived you as caring).
